Walto — Privacy Policy

Walto is an everyday todo-list app that turns your tasks into a live wallpaper. It is built local-first: your tasks live on your device, and the app has no analytics, no crash reporters, and no advertising SDKs. This policy explains what Walto does with your information. The short version: your tasks and notes never leave your device; the only network traffic is fetching wallpaper images you ask for and talking to Google Play about purchases.

Data we collect

None about you. Walto has no backend of ours, no accounts, and no third-party tracking. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal or usage data.

Data stored on your device

Everything Walto creates stays on your device, under your control:

• Your tasks — titles, notes, due dates, reminders, tags, and the rest of your todo data.
• Your settings — wallpaper look (font, colours, layout) and reminder preferences, stored locally.

Uninstalling Walto, or clearing its data in Android settings, removes all of this.

Network access

Walto declares the INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE permissions. They are used for exactly two things, and nothing else:

• Wallpaper images (Pro feature). If you use the optional "search for a backdrop" feature, Walto sends your search term to the Unsplash photo API to find matching images, then downloads the image you pick from Unsplash's image servers. The search query is the only input sent, and it is used solely to return results. This happens only when you search; the default backgrounds (solid colours and gradients) need no network at all.
• Google Play Billing. If you buy Walto Pro, the app communicates with Google Play to process the purchase and confirm your entitlement. This is handled by Google's billing library, not by us.

Walto does not upload your tasks or notes anywhere, does not contact any server of ours, and has no general telemetry. There is no data about you for us to see.

Permissions

Walto requests permissions only for features you actually use:

• Set wallpaper — to apply your Walto wallpaper.
• Photos / media (READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, and READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on older devices) — so you can pick one of your own photos as a background.
• Notifications — to show task reminders you set.
• Alarms & boot (SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — so reminders fire on time, including after a restart.
• Internet & network state — for the image search and billing described above.

Children

Walto is a general productivity app with no data collection or advertising, and is safe for general use. It is not specifically directed at children.

Security

Your tasks never leave your device, so there is no transmission of them for us to secure. On-device storage is protected by Android's app sandbox. Any image search uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to Unsplash.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date above.
